Oasis Beads & Crystals Inc.: Turning One Location Into Two

In Chatham, Ontario, Oasis Beads & Crystals Inc. was assisted by the Community Futures Program through the Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham-Kent. Oasis Beads & Crystals Inc. originated as a small jewellery-making business and blossomed into a successful venture in St. Thomas during the pandemic. The store offers a diverse range of drilled gems, raw and polished crystals, carved crystals, and an extensive bead collection.

Thrilled by the triumph of her initial store, owner Lynn Bisschop felt it was time to plan for the future and establish a second location. Growing up in Chatham and considering its proximity to London, Sarnia, and the Windsor corridor, Bisschop believed it was the ideal location to expand her business.

Bisschop initially contacted the Elgin Business Resource Centre, the local Community Futures office in St. Thomas, who promptly directed her to the Community Futures Development Corporation of Chatham-Kent, leading to a successful partnership. Recognizing Bisschop as a committed small business owner who prioritizes outstanding customer service, the General Manager and team at CFDCCK were thrilled to offer her the necessary support to get started.

Oasis Beads & Crystal Inc. opened its doors in November 2023. “Opening the new store in Chatham-Kent has been a whirlwind. I am so pleased with the overall positive reviews from our customers; so grateful for all of the gratitude expressed on choosing Chatham for the expansion; very happy to be here!” – Lynn Bisschop
