Arthur Barrows was raised in Oakville, Ontario. He spent approximately 4 years living in Ottawa, Ontario.
In 2012, he moved to Tulita, Northwest Territories to work as the Economic Development Officer (EDO) for the Tulita Yamoria Community Corporation. Tulita is a remote, isolated Indigenous community.
During Arthur’s time as the EDO, he successfully helped Indigenous Dene and Métis business owners obtain government contributions and contracts with oil and natural gas companies. Additionally, Arthur helped several local artists obtain government grants and assisted them with selling their artwork online.
In 2013, Arthur relocated to the Town of Inuvik, a small, isolated Indigenous community near the Arctic Ocean, to work as the Loans Officer for the Western Arctic Business Development Corporation (WABDC). In 2015, Arthur was promoted and became WABDC’s General Manager.
During Arthur’s WABDC tenure he helped several Inuvialuit, Gwich’in, and Métis entrepreneurs obtain business loans, government contributions, and government contracts. He also successfully helped many immigrant entrepreneurs (recent Canadian immigrants).
During Arthur’s time in the Northwest Territories, he completed several hours of volunteer work. He volunteered at the Inuvik Food Shelter and was also the Vice President of the Northwest Territories Community Futures Association (NWTCFA).
Last December, Arthur moved to Midland, Ontario to become the North Simcoe Community Futures Development Corporation’s (NSCFDC) General Manager. Arthur is extremely excited about his new position and looks forward to helping the NSCFDC’s clients.
