Two Rivers Community Development Centre is now accepting applications for the role of Business Support Officer.
Two Rivers is looking for a motivated individual with strong business acumen, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a deep commitment to fostering business development within Indigenous communities. The ideal candidate will bring a proven ability to provide customized support to Aboriginal businesses and demonstrate a high level of cultural awareness. Preference will be given to band members and individuals who have owned their own business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance and support to Indigenous entrepreneurs on business planning, development, and financing options.
- Build meaningful relationships with Indigenous business owners to understand their unique needs and develop customised support strategies.
- Assist in collecting and entering accurate information for loan applications and legal documents.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure all required documentation for financing is complete and organised.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, advising on funding opportunities and available resources.
- Maintain and update a detailed database of Aboriginal businesses in the region.
- Partner with Indigenous communities and organisations to identify opportunities for collaboration and enhanced support.
- Track the progress of supported businesses, offering ongoing assistance to ensure long-term success.
- Develop and deliver training sessions and workshops focused on business development and financial literacy, tailored to Indigenous entrepreneurs.
- Support and coordinate efforts with the Loans Administration Officer and Loans Manager to streamline processes & assist with special projects
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in a related field, such as community economic development, business finance, banking, credit unions, or non-profit organisations, is preferred. Experience in supporting Indigenous Entrepreneurs or similar contexts will be highly valued
- Financial Knowledge: Proven experience with budgeting, financial systems, and procedures, with the ability to assist clients with financial planning and accessing loan products.
- Education: A university degree or college diploma in business administration, finance, community economic development, planning, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience in banking, lending, or community economic development will also be considered.
- Indigenous Business & Economic Development: Experience in Indigenous business development or economic initiatives is an asset, particularly related to supporting Indigenous Entrepreneurs.
- Cultural Competency: A strong understanding of Indigenous histories, cultures, and the distinct challenges faced by Indigenous communities is considered an asset. Lived experience and/or direct involvement with Indigenous business and economic development will also be highly valued.
- Government Programs: Familiarity with government loan, grant, and contribution programs as they relate to Indigenous business development is highly beneficial

Salary Range:
The Salary Range for this position is $50,000 – $ 65,000 per annum plus a modest benefit package.
Travel:
Some travel may be required within the region and to various areas within Two Rivers’ service area for activities such as training, workshops, outreach events, and other engagements. Travel may also be necessary to attend training sessions and workshops to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
