In the months prior to the event the children are prepared on how to run a business and what it takes to do so. This fair is a great tool that encourages children to learn skills needed to start a business. The stories about the experience last year were remarkable. The children learn soft skills like confidence, networking, critical thinking and social interaction and practical skills like using POS machines and display/marketing techniques. They do it all themselves – and last year, apparently, some of the kids ran out of product, but would not be cowed, they immediately started walking around, handing out business cards to the attendees!
All financial support goes right back to the program, which is otherwise volunteer based.
Venture Niagara will be present on the day of the event and is supporting this event by providing 2 business grants of $100.00 each for start up costs.
