Career Opportunity – Full-time Business & Lending Advisor: Grand Erie Business Centre ( Haldimand County and the Township of West Lincoln)

 

 

Grand Erie Business Centre Inc. (GEBC) is currently seeking a permanent full-time Business & Lending Advisor. GEBC is a private non-profit business development corporation that has been serving Haldimand County and the Township of West Lincoln since 1989. We provide financing, consultation, support and advice to small businesses within this area.

GEBC is one of over 260 Community Futures Development Corporations across the country. We currently receive 100% of our operational funding from FedDev Ontario (the Federal Economic Development Agency of Southern Ontario).

The Business & Lending Advisor will report directly to the General Manager.

What Will You Do?

  • Maintain existing customer accounts, including preparation of documentation, amortization schedules and monitoring of client accounts.
  • Prepare and maintain files, documents, reports and database contacts in accordance with established guidelines of the corporation and the corporation’s funders.
  • Meet with interested parties and provide counselling/feedback.
  • Respond to and follow up on inquiries from clients, providing service overviews of programs, application process, requirements and referrals to other agencies.
  • Ensure contractual obligations of the clients are maintained: make soft collection calls for overdue payments; follow up on business and property insurance.
  • Obtain required credit/financial information.
  • Ensure integrity of client accounts and adherence to privacy policies.
  • Respond to general information requests and inquiries.
  • Participate in networking events, sit on advisory boards, attend events and promote the program.
  • Acquire and maintain certification and education as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in business, commerce or finance
  • Five years’ experience in business counselling and commercial loan management
  • Experience conducting financial statement analyses
  • Working knowledge of the business planning process
  • Knowledge of small business start-up/existing information and related programs
  • Experience in business loan management, including preparation of security documents
  • Proficiency in the use of computers/information technology
  • Working knowledge of software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the internet
  • Ability to learn client and loan management software
  • Experience in delivering individual and group training sessions considered an asset
  • Able to work independently while consistently presenting a professional attitude and demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills (verbal/written), critical thinking, sound judgement and strict confidentiality
  • Precise attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure on multiple tasks.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, priority-setting, follow-up and follow-through skills.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and accountability.
  • Knowledge of Haldimand County and the Township of West Lincoln

 

Working Conditions/Physical Effort

  • Professional, team-oriented, office environment.
  • 40 hour work week (Mon-Fri: 8:30-4:30); hours may vary for meetings outside of regular business hours.
  • Physical demands include sitting, considerable use of computer and phone and lifting items of varying weight (i.e. file boxes)
  • Travel within our catchment area – a valid G driver’s license is required with access to a reliable vehicle.

 

The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 and will be based on experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is also available.
